846. STEVE HACKETT Genesis revisited II (2012) > 4.04
Ce deuxième album de reprise de Genesis est plus intéressant que le premier de 1996. Musicalement proche des originaux , de bonne qualité avec même un plus grâce à la production moderne qui donne un son plus ample et plus enveloppant. Outre Steve Hackett toujours impérial à la guitare, Roger King assure un bon niveau aux claviers et on retrouve avec plaisr John Hackett à la flûte. Quelques invités prestigieux sont convoqués comme Steve Rothery (pour un superbe duo avec Steve Hackett à la fin de The lamia) et Roine Stolt ( dans The return of the giant Hogweed).
C'est donc principalement au chant que se fera la différence avec les originaux puisque pas moins de douze chanteurs différents viennent aider Steve Hackett à revisiter les meilleurs titres de Genesis. Chacun appréciera selon ses préférences mais on tombera sans doute tous d'accord pour apprécier Nad Sylvan, Steve Wilson ou John Wetton et regretter la voix d'Amanda Lehmann dans Ripples...
